Paddock Topping

Topping paddocks is an excellent way to prevent weeds from going to seed and regenerating.

Topping also removes any stalky, unpalatable grass and allows fresh new grass to spread. It stops grass from growing too tall for effective grazing.

The equipment used mulches the grass therefore speeding up the breakdown and disappearance of cuttings and improving grass growth. It has a roller attached, which leaves a smart, tidy finish. Due to the compact nature of the equipment it can be used for small areas with difficult access.

Lawn and parkland mowing

We have a tractor pulled mower which is designed to leave a very even finish. It is ideal for parkland and larger areas of grass, which are being kept short/mown for recreational use. The grass is mulched and left behind which in turn promotes a denser grass growth. We use the machine on a variety of different areas such as football pitches, parks, recreational grounds, village greens and large communal gardens etc

Q. Why a Flail mower?

A. It mulches the grass therefore speeding up the breakdown and disappearance of cuttings and improving grass growth. It has a roller attached, which leaves a smart, tidy finish. It will cut Grass, Thistles. Nettles, Docks etc.

Harrowing and rolling

Harrowing and rolling are traditionally carried out in the spring.

We use the 3SR, it has four rows of heavy duty spring coiled tines, each row having eleven twin tines. The tines are staggered to give excellent coverage over the ground. The tines being spring mounted "jigger" over the ground, pulling and teasing out the dead thatch and matt. which allows air and light to penetrate the grass cover encouraging healthy spring growth.

Rolling will also level out unevenness caused by poaching and will firm up the ground. This encourages the spreading of the plant and therefore maximises spring growth.

Rotavating

The rotavator is a machine used in the preparation of seedbeds. such as vegetable seedbeds, grass seedbeds and ground levelling work. The machine is robust and deals with some very tough soil conditions. It can be used in both fieldwork and ground care/ lawn work.
